Creative Path Youth Drawing Program
Exciting New Program!
Imagine your child beaming with pride while showing you their remarkable artwork. Cultivating your child’s creative potential will open up a world of possibilities and opportunities. Our sequential, and on-going program is designed for success. It is an excellent fit for students who are creative thinkers, love drawing and are highly motivated to learn new skills.
Grades 6, 7 & 8
The Creative Advantage
Creativity is universally listed as the single-most valued skill of the future. Individuals who can think “outside of the box” to solve problems in original ways, become successful leaders across all occupations.
Why Emphasize Drawing?
Drawing is one of the best tools to hone a creative mindset. Pencils, pens and markers are readily accessible to everyone, and nearly all children take delight in drawing from an early age. Drawing is visual thinking. It is a way to organize our thoughts, solve problems, and improve our ability to communicate. It is one of the best ways to articulate our creative ideas, inner feelings and unique perspectives. Learning to draw feeds a child’s curiosity about the world around them. It can significantly boost their level of confidence, while simultaneously sparking creative thinking.
Emotional Health Benefits
Drawing is an essential tool used by children for self-expression. It goes beyond words and actions. Art is successfully used for stress-relief for individuals of all ages. Bringing something to life on paper makes us feel productive and empowered. Being present in the moment and focused during a drawing session provides benefits similar to meditation. Additionally, it gives us an opportunity to enhance our emotional intelligence and better understand ourselves and others.
What will Your Child Receive?
Upon enrolling in this program, your child will receive individualized support in a group setting from a skilled and nurturing instructor. In their weekly classes, they will make connections to artistically motivated peers. The instruction is designed to provide just the right balance of fun, and creative activities with technique-building lessons. Having strong skills allows students to more fully reach their individual goals and express their original ideas. Students also need individualized choices to develop their own unique artistic voices. Approximately one hour of each class will be spent on skill-building and the other hour will be spent applying those skills to a personal choice project.
As a part of our curriculum, students will gain an understanding of well-known and contemporary artists, art movements and important works of art from many cultures and time periods. They will learn visual thinking strategies for reflecting upon and discussing works of art, laying the foundation for a life-long love of art.

Note: The Creative Path Professional Drawing Kit contains the perfect mix of dozens of carefully selected, high quality, professional artists’ supplies, some of which will last for years. As your child continues with the Creative Path Program, they will NOT be required to purchase another kit annually. (There are, however, several new materials and a larger supply box introduced between steps 1 & 2). In general, once an item is used up, you can purchase just that specific item as a replacement. For your convenience, we will keep a stock of these supplies for purchase at Davis Studio.
Your child’s art kit will be kept at the studio during the school year and will be for your child’s personal use during class. This is important to make sure your student has the necessary materials available each week. It provides them with the opportunity to learn to take excellent care of their art materials and develop habits of proper use and storage. Kits may go home during the summer, or a replicate at-home kit may be purchased if desired. In addition to the art kit, each student receives a professional sketchbook, portfolio presentation book, an artist’s apron & beret, along with a Creative Path T-shirt.
