Engaging Activities & Familiar Routines
During Explore Play time children are free to explore and play anywhere in the classroom. Projects are hands-on, engaging and designed to introduce new skills. The activities could include play dough, puzzles, sewing cards, light table play, science experiments, games, and a variety of explorations with art materials. Children will have an opportunity to paint, sculpt with clay, make prints, tinker, experiment at the sensory table, build with blocks, act out a story with puppets, bake with a teacher or care for the classroom by watering plants and sweeping.
Our Morning Gathering builds our sense of community and family within our classroom. This may include activities such as music, dance, yoga, a variety of children’s literature, foreign language exposure, science explorations, math games or a visitor sharing an interesting object or experience.
Outdoor Classroom Time becomes an extension of our classroom to provide opportunities for movement, discovery, play and investigation of the natural world. All activities are designed to allow children to build confidence and challenge their emerging abilities.
Snack: A nutritious snack will be provided daily. Family style eating offers a special opportunity to build community and cultivate healthy habits. Mealtime is not just for providing necessary energy but is a social activity, nourishing body, mind and spirit.
Lunch: We ask parents to bring their child lunch each day. We also require this meal to be nut and maple free due to allergies.
Drop-off and Pick-up:
Drop off begins at 8:30. Please be aware that at 9:00, approximately 20 - 25 families will be dropping off older children for art classes at the studios most days. To manage the parking and arrival logistics, we urge all preschool families to drop off by or before 8:45 am each morning in order for an orderly drop off for all of Davis Studio's students.
Pick up will be no later than 1:30 pm. Please plan to pick up inside the classroom. Pick up time must be strictly enforced because our teachers have additional important tasks to complete such as curriculum planning, teaching strategies gold reports, staff meetings, etc. We appreciate your cooperation with this to enable our teachers to give your children the best preschool experience possible. Late pick ups cut into these critical duties. If you arrive late you we reserve the right to bill you $5.00 for every 5 minutes you are late. A consistent pattern of late pick-ups could result in dismissal from the program.
