Class Descriptions

Finding Your Voice

Monday: 9–10 a.m. (Maria)

Singing, toning and vocalizing releases a burst of positive neurotransmitters in our brains similar to the ones we experience when falling in love. Singing with others is particularly joyful. You’ll start each class by using beautiful, healing oils to massage your throat, neck and jaw. Then, you’ll be led through vocal warm-ups such as humming and toning.  You’ll be shown how to play with sound by opening your throat, releasing, improvising, and a variety of call and response songs. Your cells will be singing and you will be ready to speak your truth, from the heart.

Let It Flow

Monday: 10:15–11:30 a.m. (Maria)

For all of us who feel we control or “do too much,” this class is a gift of freedom and flow that will feel amazing. We’ll start with gentle guided qigong movements followed by a brief breathwork journey. You’ll experience the sheer delight of mixing water with vibrant pigment as you flow into an expressive and free form watercolor painting session. Learn to embrace a loose and interpretive style as you experiment while painting to music. This class will feel good on all levels. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and ready to “go with the flow.”

Slow Drawing for Sanity

Monday: 1:30–2:45 p.m. (Teresa)

Think of this class as a respite from the busy world, a return to slow-ness in the most delightful way. We will guide you in drawing simple, yet interesting patterns inspired by nature while slowing down, quieting the mind, and being more fully present. This is a beautifully simple approach to drawing that gives your brain a rest as you ease into a state of flow. You’ll leave with a sense of calm aliveness and a brilliantly energized focus.

Neuro Arts & Nap Time

Monday: 3– 4:15 p.m. (Teresa)

Explore the deeply satisfying art form of Neuro Arts. This art practice helps to dissolve your worries and eases your mind. We will guide you through a simple and intuitive process to create spontaneous free flowing lines and shapes designed for introspection. Then, with your mind as relaxed as a kitten, stretch out on a yoga mat to rest for few minutes and wake up to cookies and milk.

Daybreak Disco

Tuesday (& Thursday):  6:30–7:15 a.m. (Adrienne)

Dance. Sweat. Roll out of bed and let the rhythms bring you to life. Slip on a pair of wireless headsets provided and sync into one of two channels with dance-worthy jams to get your day going. We offer a safe space to rock out, get your body moving, shake off life’s stressors, and have fun. You’ll leave with a giant smile on your face, feeling vibrant and connected with your happy self. Daybreak Silent Disco is open to anyone and everyone. Take more chances, dance more dances.

Social Fabric

Tuesday: 1:15–2:30 p.m. (Alana)

Come hang out with us and learn new skills to keep your hands occupied while having enriching conversations. This experience is like a modern twist on a quilting bee. Each week, we’ll introduce you to a mini-project or new technique. Alternatively, you can bring in an on-going project you are working on. Explore everything from hand sewing, to embroidery, applique, quilting, crocheting, weaving, macrame, and printing on cloth. Combine techniques and materials in interesting ways.

Earth Arts

Wednesday: 9–10:30 a.m. (Maria)

In celebration of our amazing planet, you will breathe deeply, move your body and spend time playing in nature. Together we’ll collect treasures and use them to build mandalas or altars and create rituals to honor the earth. Then, coming indoors you’ll enjoy nature-inspired hand-building with clay or creating with collected materials all designed to soak in earth’s beauty and energy. Make your own objects imbued with personal meaning and connection. Record your observations and insights in a nature journal. Discover the power of simple ritual and open a new way of connecting with the earth and the cycles of life.

Magical Mini

Wednesday: 10:45–11:45 a.m. (Maria)

Explore an alternative you in the form of making a doll or mini-figure. Join Maria for a guided drum journey to connect with you inner child, inner superhero or another part of yourself wanting to be seen and heard. Using a wide variety of techniques and materials you will play around with your own likeness (or inner likeness) using freedom and humor to be curious and free. Doll-making is as old as time and many cultures believed they held magical powers. Making art dolls for self-exploration can be particularly illuminating when approached with a lightness of spirit.

Collaborative Fun & Games

Wednesday: 6:45–8 p.m. (Alana)

Maybe it’s not all fun and games, but it should be! Enter a space for light-hearted, playful silliness where group projects aren’t graded, but instead are thoroughly enjoyed. Each evening we’ll go on a different active adventure. Perhaps the floor is lava, or maybe we’re all using markers to draw puppets on our fingers, or instead, we’re making a giant blanket fort. We’ll also teach you a variety of interactive party games. A little mid-week fun can go a long way. We hope you will join us by saying a resounding “YES” to living life to the fullest.

The Busy Person Book Club

Thursday: 5:30–6:30 p.m. (Adrienne)

Finally, a book club for people who are busy but who also like to chat with others on a deeper level. No pre-reading required here! We’ll kick things off by reading or listening to a short piece, (poem, quote, article, pod cast snippet, etc.) followed by guided conversation. Think of it as an opportunity to connect in meaningful ways with others on topics that are truly relevant to our lives. Meanwhile, we’ll have plenty of fun fidgets and herbal tea along with paper and colored pens for aha-moments and doodles.

Love Letters

Friday: 4–5 p.m. (Adrienne)

Think of this class as a delicious hour devoted to expressing the love and kindness within you. Expressing love creates a sense of fulfillment and happiness that acts like a remedy to life’s stressors and challenges. Each class will have a different focus and guided activity centered around conveying love in written form. It might be random acts of kindness, creating meaningful (and amusing) handmade cards, or a self-love letter, the possibilities are endless! You’ll leave with a joy-full heart.

Weekend Launch Party

Friday: 5:15–6:15 p.m. (Adrienne)

Work it, shake it, move it, dance! Slip on a pair of wireless headsets provided and sync into one of two channels with dance-worthy jams. We offer a safe space to rock out, shake off the week’s stressors, and feel good. We’ll have mocktails, party props and mood lighting. Come alone to meet friends or bring a friend. Pop in on your way home from work or for some pre-dinner out dancing. Every Friday is worth celebrating!

All the Feels

Saturday: 9–10:15 a.m. (Teresa)

Gain a sense of well-being through a variety of playful art techniques designed to help you more fully understand, accept and release your emotions. Explore a spectrum of feelings in a safe environment through embodied experiences such as drawing, painting, writing, collage making, sculpting, dancing, and mask making. There is no right or wrong way to go about this. Absolutely no artistic talent or skill is required, only a desire to let go of self-criticism and judgement. “Art has the power to render sorrow beautiful, make loneliness a shared experience, and transform despair into hope.” – Brene Brown

Paint Happy and Free

Saturday: 10:30–11:30 a.m. (Teresa)

Dip into delicious and delightful colors as you paint with wild abandon and discover how to put the emphasis on the process rather than on the end result. Get out of your head, don’t plan anything, and completely banish your preconceived expectations. Create dots, lines, and sweeping shapes. Let the paint drip and pool onto the paper. Stand up and dance to uplifting music while you paint. Studies have shown that making art measurably reduces stress levels for experienced artists and non-artists alike. When we finish we’ll put our brushes down and clap and cheer that we took the time to do this for ourselves.
