If you have ever wanted to explore fused glass beyond and below that “quarter inch rule”- this Intermediate class is for you! This fun class will include all kinds of pattern bars, using the flow of glass and figuring out how much glass we’ll need to fill in a specific area. How thin can we go…come figure that out using stringers, powder and all kinds of fun tools to make our partial sheets!! We’ll explore the use of molds, kiln shelves and damming to contain our glass. In this class we’ll spend time cutting up our thick glass using the tile saw and grinding with the flat lapidary grinder to incorporate these pieces in your work.

This class will explore kiln programming and proper annealing of glass as well as considerations for coldworking thicker glass. Using glass of different thicknesses enables you to come up with designs for your projects that are truly your own!

This Intermediate level course will require that you have taken a Beginner level Davis Studio fused glass class and that you are comfortable with basic glass fusing including hand tools and cold-working equipment.

In-Class Materials fee: The cost of materials will depend on the size of your project and ranges between $30-$100 total for all class projects. We will use the credit card you have on file. No card info, checks or cash taken at class.
