Color Theory Workshop-Part 1 (Apr. 15, 2023)
Date: Saturday, Apr. 15, 2023
Time: 12:30–3:30 p.m.
Location: 916 Shelburne Road
Instructor: Katie Carleton
Join us to explore the world of color in a warm studio environment. You will come away with a better understanding of the language of color and the role it plays in painting. From learning color theory vocabulary to understanding how to mix a range of values with color, this workshop will help you develop confidence in the art and science of mixing colors.
You will create a painter’s guide for future referencing, including the meaning and symbolism of colors, as well as fun studies of the different seasons and creative studies of varying emotions.
Participants are asked to bring an image of a painting that they plan to do or one that they are currently working on. We will use them to create color guides. Materials included. Beginner and experienced artists welcome. This workshop will be offered in 2 parts, which can be taken separately or in sequence.
Prerequisite Note: This workshop is open to any past or current student who is looking for studio time surrounded by a vibrant and supportive creative community. You must have taken an 8-week course or be currently enrolled in an 8-week course at Davis Studio in order to register for this workshop.
