Explore a variety of mark-making techniques with an emphasis on finding what works for you as an artist. This exciting art technique is all about learning how to see the world and capturing that in a uniquely personal and deeply expressive way! Through practical exercises, gain the knowledge to turn everyday objects, still life or your favorite personal subject matter into magical abstract paintings. We'll be covering various elements of abstract art making including color relationships, mark making, composition, introducing mixed media, and more. We'll also touch on developing studio habits to aid in productivity, objective editing and analysis, and maintaining a positive work space and internal voice. We will learn about some abstract painters to help understand some of the concepts behind non-representational painting (painting without recognizable imagery).
