Students will be amazed at the easy beauty of working with fused glass in the five days of this camp. Half of each day will be spent exploring the properties of glass: its transparency, what happens when it's layered, how light moves through it, and how it fuses together when baked in a kiln. With clear instruction they'll be safely walked through the steps of using hand tools to cut glass, and will make stunning creations, such as sun-catchers and wind-chimes. The other half of each day, students will continue to look at light and color but will play with a variety of other materials. We'll play with black and white charcoal to render shiny objects on paper, use shaving cream to make gorgeous marbled effects, layer watercolor paints with oil and salt to look like glass and liquid. What better season than summer in Vermont to spend several days appreciating light and color!
